How You Can Buy Back Your Greatness in One Second...

An illusion can be created in a split second…yet believing in it can deprive a soul of greatness for a long period of time.

It is particularly interesting to observe that when you get an illusion during an adversity, chances are that dwelling on it will deepen your state of hardship.

Illusions happen in the mind. My mental state is one of the most critical aspects of my life whenever I am going through a hardship.

Have you ever realized how easy it is to be disillusioned? An illusion is mostly created from a reality. For the most part, this reality is usually a bad one: A job loss, a heart break, failure at school, loss of investments, disapproval by closest people in your life, 9: O'clock news on the econony...and so on.

The illusions are like a fog that very slowly settles over us. Before long, the darkened view ahead seems normal. We forget that only a few feet above us is clear sky. Some people walk their entire lives in this fog, never questioning the source or nature of the fog, and rarely risking the safety of the fog to poke their heads out, if even for a moment –Kim George.

For example, the reality will communicate that there is no money. It will communicate that your better days have long gone. The reality will say that the divorce is real…and the illusion will add that you will never ever enjoy the thrills of marriage, a family and a home. 

The reality will say that you have flunked the papers today, and the illusion will spice that message up just a little bit to indicate that you will never ever make it in life. The reality will tell you that you are a lousy speaker from the feedback of the audience and the illusion will amplify the message that you were never ‘called’ to speak.

The reality will tell you without lying that the sales have not come in the past three months and the illusion will add that you will never ever succeed. Notice though that it is not the reality that is creating the belief. It is the illusion communicated from the reality that easily forms a belief. The truth is that you have two options. You can accept the reality and reject the illusion or you can believe the illusion together with the reality.

I think you get the message.

As long as we are alive and as long as we face adversities, we wil have instances where we are to choose between believing an illusion based on a reality, or reinforcing our greatness based on our purpose.

Your greatness can be lost in that one instance of an adversity. It can also be bought back right then and there through the following ways:

1. Deciding beforehand that no adversity will identify who you are
2. Deciding beforehand to believe the best about yourself
3. Deciding beforehand to always seperate the illusion from the reality
4. Deciding beforehand not to make a permanent decision in a temporary setback
5. Deciding beforehand that all setbacks, adversities and mishaphs in life are temporary
6. Deciding beforehand to be relentless when faced with a setback
7. Deciding beforehand to always make the greatest speech ever to the greatest audience ever!

There you have it.

YOU AND YOUR BIG MOUTH II

No doubt that words are the most powerful weapons available to a human. Some years back while I attended a spiritual meeting with some friends, we were discussing about what we would rather have over the other: eyes, ears, a mouth, a nose, arms or legs.

We had a hilarious time hearing people defend why they would go for the nose and not the rest of the body parts…and so on.

Needless to say, we need all those body parts…they are of equal importance yet some have the functionality much higher than their ‘friends’. I single out the mouth. 

In the last post, we identified that there will always be opposition to the vision that you carry in the inside of you. I know of people who have carried visions for decades…yet at the moment, they do not even seem close to its fruition.

Yet you will never see them keep quiet about the vision. They use the big mouth syndrome. They have a thick skin that refuses to listen to any other thing contrary to the vision. They believe although they do not see. They will not be judged by seeming lack of activity on their end as far as the vision is concerned.

I will say it again, that with the weapon of our mouths, we are able to create impregnable defiance against all obstacles to our dreams and visions.

Yet I have come to realize that one of the biggest and most potent use of the big mouth is towards others! You have no idea what words can do to individuals whose own mouths are tightly shut in the wake of struggle, frustration and hardship.

I am not talking about careless words thrown around in an obligatory mode. I am not talking about soft careful words spoken to comfort and soothe, although those are needed.

I am talking about powerful words of belief and vision directly into the life of another soul. I read somewhere that if someone was told that they cannot make it, it takes about sixteen times of hearing ‘they can make it’ to neutralize that sting of failure in their lives. It is then the seventeenth time that catapults the scale to the other side of victory! How powerful the mouth is, both sides of fate!

Visionaries need to learn to use their big mouths to speak belief, positive vision to the lives of those around them. I see visionaries rising up even in families, greeting each other with big words of belief.

“Hi champion”!

“You are useful”!

“You are a world changer”!

 “You are creative”!

“You are relevant”!

“I see you going places that no other person in your lineage has ever gone to”!

You have no idea what music this is to a soul’s ears. Words create! People tend to navigate towards what picture a word has painted in their lives. I challenge people in authority over others, mostly parents to exercise that big mouth of yours well.

You have absolutely nothing to lose when you do this. Instead, you have creative power right at the tip of your big mouth. All I know is that this ‘power’ being released from you has a way of going round and coming back in a double dose hitting you and turning your life right-side up!

Come to think of it…do you know how much damage gossip and rumors do on a daily basis? See, that is the negative side of the big mouth. If that can be flipped to the right side and we start speaking big, positive life-filled words to each other: mother to daughter, husband to wife, teacher to child, child to child, president to nation, and here is the big one- media house to nation, we stand in a pole position in creating positive environments where life signatures can be nurtured.

That is why I will endeavor as much as possible to be involved in the ‘vision of words’, through writing and speaking. I realized some years back that my purpose on earth is ‘to speak words in season to those who are weary’. What a noble cause!

Many people give up because first off, they kept quiet, and second of all, those around them are tight lipped too!

Unbeknown to you, Your Words Could Save a Life!

Someone is a breathe away…literally, from committing suicide; from giving up on that marriage; project; or endeavor or even on themselves! Let us learn to exercise that power seated right under our noses.

You and your big mouth are revolutionary to say the least!

YOU AND YOUR BIG MOUTH!!

They say that as long as you have vision for where you want to go, nothing can stop you. Well, it could be true, but that does not mean that some things will try to stop you. Some of those things lie deep within my own self. 

Some of them are from the environment around me...yet I guess the biggest 'stoppers' of them all are those within me: fear, pride, lack of fire and ambition, laziness, ordinariness, fitting in, comfort, jealousy, inferiority, lack of preparation, lose of momentum...you name it. If we can beat all these enemies within, the nothing can stop us message becomes more tangible than theoretical.

"No matter what you think, I say this is an Apple Machine!"

Yet, I think second to having vision, the biggest asset one possesses is the words of our mouths! What is the content of your conversation right now? In the midst of our relentless stoppers whether inside of us or outside of us...What are we saying?

It is absolutely critical that you and I possess the biggest positive mouth in the entire universe. It is absolutely critical that we also develop a thick and impenetrable skin that couldn't care less what someone else thinks about our big mouths. You see, people will always have something to say. 

I dare say that you and I must cultivate a character where concerning our vision, we are the first and the final word! That means that even before you speak out with your big mouth, someone might want to beat you to the punch and tell you how much inferior you are...and how impossible it is...and how your entire previous generations did not make it and you are no different.

It is not only people who will speak...but I guess the biggest communicators of negativity in our lives are those negative situations you find yourself in. Picture this...a man is destined to be a Prime Minister in a foreign land, yet he is a prisoner somewhere.

What does that situation tell him about his vision? Forget what it says...but remember what is in your mouth. Do not forget to tenaciously declare the vision with the biggest mouth you got...you have absolutely nothing to lose, I assure you.

A man has a vision that in 2012, he and his family will be lifted up from obscurity to relevance and prominence, yet he finds himself in August being a guest of the state...obscurity indeed! What does that situation tell him? Forget what it says, but open your biggest mouth ever and declare still the vision. Believe me, you have absolutely nothing to lose.

The greatest tragedy we have in the world today is silent visionaries! When hardship speaks, they keep quiet. When frustration grows they are silent still. When impossibilities loom they silently nod in agreement with it. Listen, opening your big mouth to declare the exact opposite of the seeming impossibility is the key to keep you on track. Refuse to die. Refuse to die with your vision. 

You and your big mouth are a perfect combination for the moment. Do not keep quiet however impossible it seems...for then you will be agreeing with the death of your vision. I already indicated here how critical an audience of one is...

You and your big mouth are the most powerful combination against the inside as well as the outside stoppers. It is not only important to keep walking...it is absolutely necessary to keep that big mouth of yours wagging and waxing eloquent about your life signatures!

A MESSAGE FROM MY HEART

It is from what is burning in people's hearts that they will speak. It is what matters to them that they will front. The contents of the heart have formed companies, defended nations and causes, freed young girls in India forced into prostitution by their uncles, revolutionized entire countries and so on. Do you have a heart? Then you are a candidate and an agent of change. My question to you today is this: What is burning deep down your heart today? Or maybe of late? Or maybe in the past two years? Kindly take note of it, it is not there for you, it is there for the masses around the world. SELAH

First off, I am totally convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt that there is absolutely nobody on the face of the earth who is here and is not needed. Everybody alive, including you is here because you have to offer something, no not just to your family, but to the whole world. Your platform is not a platform of the mundane, distress, discontentment and debt. Yes, I know, we live in a world that is painted so greatly with all these negatives. 

In addition to that, we have this powerful force called illusion. Today, you suffer loss, and it is easy to believe that the whole life you will have starting today will be a life of loss. Its called illusion. Today, you are steeped in serious debt and distress, and you think that that would be your life situation for the rest of your life. You do not see how else the opposite can be true. The power of illusion. 

Let me tell you what I have learnt over the past several years. I have learnt one simple lesson: You get enlarged in the moment of your distress! That's right. If you can handle it well, with a warrior spirit that totally and firmly refuses to accept the distress, the discontentment and the debt, it is possible to get enlarged in the moment of your distress. I have seen dire and disturbing circumstances altered. Let me say right here that each person in distress and discontent about what is happening in their life is a major candidate for a massive turn around for the better...an enlargement at their time of distress.

Remember Father Abraham? Do you know that it is said that this guy and his nephew were so prosperous that even the land would not accommodate them? The truth is that that is a major possibility. 

The antidote of the illusion I have talked about is...WORDS. The truth is, brothers and sisters that there is a major possibility that you and I can move from distress to major and unprecedented abundance and wealth. Wealth is a weapon we all need. Do you see that struggling family across the street? That single mama struggling to take her kids to school? That children's home lacking all the basic facilities? Do you see the paraplegic people out there in their distress? 

It is for you as a visionary to get out of your illusion of the mundane and helplessness, smack into the thick of things being a major blessing unto the lives of these people and situations. The truth is, no government is formed to care for the people directly...I kid you not. The governments are for the people yes, but their major call is to protect the boundaries and the business space.

So therefore, are you distressed? How long have you been distressed about your life. A year? Two, maybe three? Would you please look up, bloat that illusion out of your mind? Use words to reject the distress. Use faith-filled words to totally obliterate the illusion. Refuse it completely. Do not give up, give in or let up. Truth is that in a moment of imagination, you can see a better good. Abraham was told to lift up his eyes and see...the extent of which he saw became his land...after what was seemingly good had already been taken.

Don't let illusion fool you that the economies have gone down....that the best men/women have been taken...that the best jobs have been taken (especially after you failed an interview)...that the best books have already been printed...LOOK UP! Whatever you see, you are able to get it.

Breathe in....slowly breathe out. That's what is on my heart today.

THE GREATEST SPEECH EVER-A CALL TO DEFIANCE!

Let me start this post with a disclaimer: If you start your day by checking mail and replying to Facebook Status updates...you are doing yourself a great disservice. I will develop that argument at a later date. Just know that you had better be doing more constructive things that relate to your MAJOR GOALS in life first...then Facebook and Social Media can come up at a designated 'leisure hour'.

That being said, at one of those leisure hours, I was chatting on Facebook with my dear friend (Tattoo) who is in Nairobi. After the punches we normally give each other online, the conversation shifted to more important matters. It went something like this:

Tattoo:What are you writing about what I am doing?

Me: Am writing about 'the Greatest Speech Ever'. Can you guess what it is and who 'speached/speaked' it?

Tattoo: Obama

Me:hehehe Tattoo: what does it have to do with me? Me:Title? Tattoo:Sijui [That is Swahili for 'I do not have the faintest idea!' Me:hehe...so why say Obama? Tattoo:Just thought I should say that hehe Me:hmmm,complete this sentence...'The beautiful ones.... Tattoo: were born long time ago and I am one of them Me:hehehehe...good gal!brilliant!However...traditionally...how does it go? Tattoo:Grrr...are not yet born, dont like it Me:hihi stay tuned,I will tell you what the biggest speech ever is and who delivered it

One question Tattoo asked in our conversation is the pivotal point of this post. She asked: What does the greatest speech ever have to do with me? Friends, the answer to this all important question concerns every reader today. It concerns every person ever born. Closer home, this answer concerns every Visionary and it is extremely important in terms of Designing Legacies. So, I am pretty sure that at this point in time, someone is asking the same thing. What does the greatest speech ever have to do with me? Put on your seat belts, hang on and lets take this ride together.

I am sure that the smart ones reading have already figured out what the greatest speech ever is. I feel that before I reveal what is already known...I need to ask another related question. What do you think is the greatest audience ever? It goes without saying that the greatest speech ever is also influenced by the greatest audience ever. By the way...did you know that we all have our audiences out there? In fact the successful people on their cutting edge of creating legacies have sat out to define their audiences.

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr delivered the all time famous speech 'I have a dream', the audience he was addressing were already prepared. The audiences around the world at that moment in time were ready for that kind of a speech. When a great leader stood up one day in the past century to a much pensive and anticipating audience and said those famous words: "Never Ever Give up", that audience needed to hear those words and nothing else. When some American Astronauts perished in their space craft that went up in flames few seconds after take off, the speech given by President Ronald Reagan is what people needed to hear at that time. It was needless to say, an awesome speech. For every major event that has taken place through history, the masses have always looked at their leaders to INSPIRE them using WORDS. Words of reassurance. Words of hope. Words of wisdom. Words of motivation like what Alexander the Great used to inspire his armies after they were visibly spent and discouraged.

Yet, Ladies and Gentlemen, the greatest speech ever is not found in the museums of history. The same applies to the greatest audience ever. The greatest speech ever is not what is delivered by the greatest leaders of all time. The greatest speech ever that can literaly change the entire world is not given where thousands of people are attending. Neither is it backed by full multimedia, animation and the whole range of technology. The greatest speech ever is not necessariy prepared by a speech writer and delivered on International Television.

No, the greatest speech ever is when a believing heart, whether in suffering and in disillusionment, prosperity and abundance, wakes up and addresses SELF. The greatest speech ever is delivered by the orator who is in fact the audience. The speech itself is defiant. I dare say that the greatest speech ever is spontaneous. It comes from the depths of a soul that refuses to accept the normal and ordinary feedback that life hands us. A soul rises up and declares to itself: I am greater than this, I am much better than this. A soul rises up like my friend Tattoo and declares all the positives about itself in direct defiance to the current pressing circumstances. When you stand to deliver that Speech and it is full of I, me, mine, ours...they could say that you are full of yourself...yet they are not there to hear it. You are the audience anyway.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a call to defiance. This is a call to all and sundry to start giving out the greatest speech ever. Open your mouth. You might not feel like it...but you do not need feelings to start. Open your mouth, and even when hot tears are streaming through your cheecks, declare with an un-shakeable belief all the positives you can muster about your life.

In the end, "I can", is much better than IQ. You will be most motivated by the greatest speech that you will deliver than the greatest speech that you will hear. My question today is this: What are you saying about yourself? What are you saying about how you will turn out? What are you listening to? Most importantly....when is the last time you delivered the greatest speech ever?
