231. Looking at the Benefits of Engaging Our Brains over The Indulgence of Technology

There are benefits of engaging our brains over having to depend entirely on technology. I know it sounds weird, but it is much more valuable to number crunch with pen and paper than to use a calculator.

There is essentially nothing wrong with a calculator. It is designed to help us get answers quickly. However, the person who is number crunching is growing the brain muscle more as compared to the one heavily relying on the calculator.

In our day and age, we are abdicating the use of our brains and are overly dependent on technology. It's a silent epidemic. Listen to this.

230. Stemming The Greatest Silent Epidemic of Our Modern World

Every time there is an epidemic in the earth, borders are shut and relief and medical agencies are on high alert.

As the Corona virus rages in China, Russia has decided to shut down her border with the Chinese. It is an epidemic.

But, folks, there is even a more dangerous epidemic that is silently raging the whole wide world. It is an epidemic caused by technology.

We are so highly dependent on technology that we are no longer engaging our brains to think. It is scary. We need to wake up. Listen to this.

229. The No. 1 Reason Google Must Be Your LAST OPTION

Technology is great. Many problems it's solved. Great increase in productivity, ease of life and so on.

But there is a serious downside to it. Let me ask you a question. Are you more of a producer than you are a consumer of technology and it's products?

The danger we have is our brains becoming increasingly disengaged as we overly rely on technology. We go to Google even before the brain is engaged. That's the danger. Listen to this.

228. Taking Responsibility Of Generations.

When we are planning for the New Year or when we are setting goals, do we consider the responsibility that we have for:

  • Our next generations?
  • Humanity at large?

Our thinking can be selfish and self-centred so much so that we do not think that we have a responsibility for the next generation. All it takes is for us to at least consider then acknowledge the fact that we are the pacesetters and trendsetters for them in life.

If we do not do this kind of planning, we are giving them a raw deal, the same kind of a deal that we received from generations prior. I believe it is time for us to restructure our planning to include the next generations. Listen to this.

227. You Want To Leave A Legacy? Think This Way

To think and to plan for the third and fourth generations is one sure way to set a legacy in motion. However, if we are only going to be concerned about our fleeting 80 years on earth, chances are that that's all we shall get.

Legacy is something interesting...at some level, it is not something that you actively pursue. It is something that emanates as a result of something larger than survival that you were pursuing in life.

The very place where you can get something of that nature is when you think and plan for the generations that are coming right after you. Considering to put things in place for them and building foundations through which they can excel and propagate what you started.

Listen to this.

226. The Most Important (and Yet Forgotten) Generational Thinking Trait

Thinking long and thinking big must be something that we should institute in our families. Think about this: For the most part, as we have been growing up, the consciousness with which we are approaching life has always been on ourselves.

Seldom do we take time to not only think, but also to plan for the next generations. There could be many reasons, and probably we could easily blame the past generations for this.

When we do, however, we realize that "we are it!". In other words, a few decades from today, the succeeding generations will be operating the exact same way we are. Something has to change. It starts with us. Listen to this.

225. Thinking Big. Thinking Family Dynasty. Why Bother?

Obviously, the person with few responsibilities will take it easy in life than the person with great responsibilities.

When we talk about planning for generations to come, we are talking about deeper, more meaningful outlook in life than just having superfluous goals such as having a nice house and living in a great neighborhood.

An outlook of three generations automatically changes things, especially the way we approach life.

One thing that is birthed through this kind of planning is passion. We know of few family dynasties out there because we are myopic in our plans. We just plan for ourselves and that's it.

Can we change this? Listen here.

224. This is The Greatest Reason We Should Plan For The 3rd and 4th Generations

Imagine if at birth, many aspects of your life in terms of basic needs had been sorted by your grandfather!

What a thought! Scriptures tell us that a a good man leaves an inheritance for his children and their children!

Half of life is spent trying to make a living that we seldom focus on leaving an impact in life. Will family planning offer a respite?

Will we find solutions when we start planning for our children and their children?

This is a serious thought. Listen to this.

223. Family Planning on Steroids. Something to Think About

Thinking. A laborious exercise so much so that few people really do it. When we plan and set goals for our lives, for the most part they are short term to medium term plans.

The thought is that we shall always adjust our lives and plan more as events pan out in our existence.

Therefore, we seldom think about the life our children will have AFTER school. Perhaps that's the furthest we dare think.

How about we go a step further and think about their entire lives and that of our grand children too? That's family planning on steroids. Listen to this.

222. The Power of Seeing Beyond a Single Sale Encounter

We live in a rather transactional dispensation where people want to quantify every interaction in terms of what they can get.

It is even worse when we think of the benefits of our actions in the now. If not careful, this kind of transactional life makes us to become selfish and short sighted.

However, if we can embrace just one virtue of care one for another, we stand a chance to reap perhaps not in the moment, but even later on in droves.

I am not talking religion here, but I am talking brands, humanity, and even business. Listen to this.

221. The Sole Universal Analog Trait Used By World Changers

We live in an ever increasingly digitized world. However, I can tell you that one of the most potent things that can never be digitized is what is responsible for our success.

If you mentioned Zuckerberg, Gates, Obama, Trump or any other top performer in any niche in the world, you can be sure that they get ahead through the analog trait of thinking, planning and strategizing.

This analog activity is the most potent pillar of success we have and it is a reserve of just one species in the universe: The humans.

Any great company worth its salt will will not achieve what it has if there was no strategic planning, dreaming, and thinking.

That should apply to individuals too. Listen.

219. Why STUPIDITY is a Welcome Strategy For Success In Life

We can always attain success by following conventional methods. In fact, someone said that success always leaves clues. So we can study and implement those clues and become successful.

In other words, for the most part success is chronic, measured, deliberate and predictable. However, that is not the only way through which people succeed.

There is one more way of attaining success, and that is through being "stupid". I know that sounds weird. The opposite of chronic is acute. In other words, you can break the norm and do something " stupid" in order to forge ahead.

220. I Dare You To Clarify Anything After These Words, 'I Believe...'

The world today is moved along by mighty as well as tiny actions which are in themselves connected to one thing: Belief.

Nothing of worth that we see today existed arbitrarily. Someone somewhere believed and that belief made them to take some action of sorts.

Whenever someone says, "I believe...", the world stands at the precipice of change. A person's life will always be anchored by their belief system.

Belief is much more critical than knowledge. We create cultures and traditions based on what we believe. Drucker said that culture eats strategy for breakfast. In other words, what I believe is much more powerful than what I know.

218. Creating Breathless Moments. How To Excel in the New Decade

When your breathe is taken away, almost always you want to reciprocate. You are so appreciative that you might consider it robbery not to be grateful.

What goes on behind the scenes before a performance befitting taking our breathe away is what we ought to focus on.

Blood, sweat and tears is what it takes, but when your audience gets the breathless treatment, you have earned your bread. You have pushed the limits of your potential, and you have set a marker for your future performance. Listen to this.

217. How To Get Ahead In This Decade ¬One Hundred Percent!

Life is an aggregate of the days we are alive. Whatever I am doing or not doing today is a direct contribution to the totality of how my life will turn out.

The secret we have each day we are alive is to give 100% oxidation to our efforts. I have this concept: that interviews are not carried out in boardrooms. No. Each day, life is conducting an interview with the opportunities we have.

What percentage we give in life today determines what percentage we get out of life. Rewards and actions are not that directly proportional, but more attracts more, and less attracts even much less.

216. The One System That 'Academic Failures' Can Use To Plan Their Lives This Decade

December and January can be a season of upheaval to many people who have staked their lives on academics.

In many countries in Africa, this is the time that examination results for primary and high school are released.

It is common to see relatives pasting the achievements of their candidates all over social media. There is a large but silent percentage of others who have flunked.

As many would call them unintelligent, I beg to differ. There is a different way to look at intelligence. Listen to this.

215. One Way To Deal with 'DownTimes' in Life As We Pursue Our Goals.

Let's be honest. The road to attainment is not necessarily smooth, straight, and paved. We are always going to face twists and turns.

That's why we need to have some kind of intelligence in dealing with down times. One of the greatest myths is that your actions in downtimes should only be those that lead to deliverance.

Therefore if you have to take action, it has to be one that is directly offering respite. Nothing could be further from the truth.

There is one that scatters abroad and has plenty. There is another that hoards and still has little.

Misers are people seldom fulfilled in life. Their hope is on things, commodities and cash. They are hell bent on protecting their turfs that life is a burden.

If you are to be fulfilled in life, you will have to free yourself from the love of things and actually use your life to add value to others.

Religion is always going to be a controversial subject. It goes without saying. Most religious people will take offense with this but I will say it anyway: religion was never intended to be the source of fulfilment.

It never will. If I was to choose between religion and work in terms of getting fulfillment, I will most definitely choose work.

There is a higher chance to get fulfilment from work than from religion. Let's find out one more way to find fulfillment.

212. The Purpose and Power of A Direction in a Life of Fulfillment

I am almost sure that what we did today, all of us as humans was to look for fulfilment in life, one way or another.

But why is it that fulfilment can be elusive to us? Why is it that it is fleeting, just passing us by and leaving us empty?

It could be because of the kind of focus we have in our lives. Yet, there are millions of people the world over who are experiencing real and authentic fulfilment. I have a feeling that this is one major way they do it.

211. Want Fulfillment in Life? This is One of The Driving Forces for it.

There is one thing that we all are looking for in life. Whether we are religious or agnostic, developed or developing, whatever our state in life, we all want fulfilment.

No, we might not say it outright, but our actions and priorities will show it. However, as much as fulfillment is attainable for anyone anywhere, it is also an elusive thing in life.

That's why we need to have some paradigm through through which we pursue fulfilment. Otherwise, what we call fulfillment will always be short lived.

Here is one way to get started. Listen in.

210. The One Action That Sets All The Strategy For The New Decade in Motion

“In a world of change, the learners shall inherit the earth, while the learned shall find themselves perfectly suited for a world that no longer exists.”

These are powerful words spoken by Eric Hoffer. The world is a changing. There is a new decade to conquer, a New Year to embrace. However, it shouldn't be true that the more things change the more they remain the same.

It is one thing to have dreams and goals, but quite another to see them become our reality. There is this one simple place that is so intimate to all of us. That's where we begin.

208. Here Are 4 Powerful Ways To Dream Before Strategizing For The Decade.

Author Dutch Sheets helps us clarify the power of dreaming. This is what he says:

"Dreaming ignites creativity. The impossible is powerless against the relentless energy and creative imagination flowing from a dreaming heart.

Dreams are pregnant with hope, persistence, ingenuity, and inventiveness—if you dream you will create.

Contrarily, if you do not have dreams to pursue, you’ll languish and stagnate in a sterile, uninspired, unimaginative, and uninventive world—exactly the way most people live!"

207. Installing The Most Powerful Personal System To Strategically Position Us For the New Decade.

Everything successful bears fruit because it operates a system. The human body in a connection of intertwined powerful systems, so much so that we do not have to "think" to digest food for example.

It just happens. If we shall be successful in this decade, then it is important that we have a system that is predictable in these uncertain times.

It is a personal system, and it very much has to deal with us being the nucleus or the beginning point of everything operating. Just how do we install this system?

The new decade is up for the taking. However, old habits and cultures die hard. It is possible to give a mental assent to the New Year but still be steeped in the habits and lifestyles of the past.

To position ourselves strategically for the new decade, we must be daring enough to choose a path. A husband, for example, might decide to pull all the stops to be "the husband of the decade".

A leader might decide to use this decade to mould as many followers as possible. All in all, we need to choose a direction to take in this decade. What shall it be? Listen to this.

And yet, at the advent of a new decade, we have an opportunity to learn from our own mortality. To reconcile ourselves to the reality of our frailty in the eyes of death is a wise thing.

Death though has never fully silenced men and women who lived their lives to the fullest, who dared to be the best, most glorious and magnificent versions of themselves.
