There is a certain company that is looking to introduce G.P.S Navigation systems for the Ugandan Market. I got privy of this information a few months back. Now that would be the day!! Am not so sure how those things work....for some people who never understood or loved Geography that much, will they need Geographical skills to navigate the system?
Well anyway, today's topic is on MAPS. I remember writing and posting right here some months back about NAVIGATION. I told of how at the Presidents Award Scheme, we would be given a MAP and an Silva Compass, dropped in some unknown location and required to navigate ourselves to the required destination. Talk of ADVENTURE. Seems to me like adventure is spelt: UNKNOWN. Have you ever been lost and you loved the fact that you were lost? For that to happen, you must have embraced the spirit of adventure beforehand.
For quite some time now, the concepts of my blog posts have been about a situation called Half Time: where in life you are caught between a rock and a hard place. We have talked about several things including Surrender, Systems, Vision, as well as Focus on the FULL TIME. Today's post is very extremely important and critical to a Visionary. MAPS. This is an acronym. Before I can really expound, I need to say this: Regardless of whatever state a Visionary is in she will need MAPS to be Wealthy, Great, Successful and Significant. I have come to embrace of recent pas the fact that the Visionary's platform is THE WHOLE WORLD. That the visionary does not just live for her husband and small family...but to make an IMPACT world-wide. But then I digress...
M: Mindset. I just got through listening to Matthew Ashimolowo. He gives a bizarre story of Mike Tyson, born and bred in New York (I believe), but in dire poverty. Poverty is a mentality, and so the first thing a poor man does when he accesses some cash is to BUY. Amass. Accumulate. There is a mindset behind that behavior. Iron mike bought a Rolls Royce for EVERY COLOR OF SUIT that he owned. What for? You can only drive on vehicle at a time. Anyway, the guy was declared bankrupt before he hit 40, after seeing USD 360 Million pass through his hands. Mindset is important. The only way you calibrate your mindset as a visionary is through constant access to information that educates more than it entertains. Mindset is your software. What software are you creating for yourself as a visionary? When is the last time you read (or re-read) a Self Help book on Finances, Goals, Wealth, Public Speaking? And when is the last time you watched a soap where a woman sleeps with nearly all the men in the cast before the soap ends? You answer to these questions will LOCATE you.
A: Action. Precept upon precept. It also includes behaviours. These can only stem from the MINDSET that one has accumulated over time. Ever heard of someone slashing his wife's head off? Did that happen out of the blue? Nope...he thought it, meditated upon it. The action was mere fruit of the roots he planted. Regardless of whatever position a visionary is in, whether cruising through the first half, or at half time, or at second half, one needs to be constantly doing something that leads towards accomplishing of her vision. It could be reading. Helping. Caring. Working. Dormancy is the killer of vision. Therefore, find yourself doing something that leads towards the accomplishment of your vision, regardless of what state you are in.
P: Processes. Greatness, Wealth, Significance and Success does not happen overnight. If it does, you will do a Mike Tyson. These things require well dug foundations. People who are not visionaries cruise through life with activities...motion without progress. These are activities that are not stemming from any SYSTEM or Process that will contribute to their fulfilment of vision. Process speaks of Vision, Planning, Timing, Executing and managing...and no, I am not talking of a company...I am talking of one's own life. This point alone is the greatest distinguish-er between Visionaries and failures. A visionary knows what he wants, but also knows the PROCESSES involved in bringing about the desired results. Again, am not talking about your Company...I am talking about YOURSELF.
So there you have it. Do you have MAPS? Where are you going? Have you started? Do you feel stuck? Are you half-way there? Do you know where you want to go? What you want to have? What you want to do? Do you have MAPS?
