To be productive for the day, it is going to need us to be intentional and particular about that day. And we shall need to accept the fact that this is a daily routine.
We cannot automate ourselves like we have automated machines...at least at the conscious mind level. We have to apply ourselves.
Perhaps the greatest revelation about daily productivity is the reason why we are doing the things we are. I find that if we are only productive because we will be paid at the end of the day, week, month or at the close of the project, we are shooting ourselves in the foot as far as daily productivity is concerned.
